Americans in Sweden suffer US tax crackdown

One resident of Sweden, not FBAR compliant, has spent more than $40,000 on accounting fees and has a situation still unresolved, apparently through 2011 OVDI. Another Swedish resident was initially denied a new financial account because of US citizenship. American Citizens Abroad “has already received more than 150 testimonials from individuals who have lost access to their US-based accounts or who have been shut out by foreign banks unwilling to comply with FATCA.”
